[00:12:02] <Akiron> Hi there, been using arch32 for about a month and I am currently setting up a local mirror for faster download times for my devices that needs it. I couldn't find much about making my own mirror for arch32 specifically, I see that the download is awfully slow from rsync://buildmaster.archlinux32.org , I am currently syncing my main arch (64bit) repo every 24hrs, should I make it longer
[00:12:08] <Akiron> for the 32, I'm assuming that the server bandwith is quite low compared to other mainstream mirrors ?

[19:02:25] <girls> The buildmaster (which is also the main mirror) as aweful I/O :(
[19:04:51] <girls> I switched from a real rsync'ed mirror to a package "cache" some time ago and never want to go back: https://git.eckner.net - this will only download (and cache) the packages that you actually request (i.e. the first download will be as slow as it gets).
[19:04:51] <phrik> Title: Erich/pkgcache - [no description] (at git.eckner.net)
[19:05:21] <girls> database(s) will be cached very short only (a minute or so IIRC).
[19:06:52] <girls> ... and the slow initial download can be mitigated by running `pacman -Syuw --noconfirm` via cron - this will keep (even) the local /var/cache/pacman/pkg/ content up-to-date.
[19:14:27] <Akiron> Thanks, I will look this up, I started the rsync process about 16hrs ago, still going! lol. not sure that a cache is really what I want but it's definitely worth looking :)
[19:15:36] <Akiron> I use a 2008 Netbook with a 1c Intel Atom as a proxy for my brother's JB'd PS3 so we can play on a LAN party remotely to avoid any problem with Sony's servers/account bans, figured a local mirror would help with the download :'D
[19:17:12] <Akiron> I have also noticed that the IRC channel is no longer being logged in the irc-logs page... if the admin/owner sees this message just so they know :)
[19:17:35] <girls> hrrm.
[19:18:24] <girls> oof. since 2026-08-17 :-/
[19:18:37] <girls> no ... 2025 even :(
[19:18:51] <girls> stupid titus_livius - what are you doing!
[19:19:19] <Akiron> yep, archlinux-ports is also not logging since the same time
