[20:30:03] <fermino> For device specific kernels like the eventual linux-rpi4 I'm working on.. Would it make any more sense to ship DT overlays in a separate package than with the kernel package itself?
[20:32:58] <fermino> In the end it is quite doable with kernel-install and it is WAY cleaner. Haven't figured out what the bootloader would look like yet but I'm thinking of a split pkg to include just what's necessary for each board (not a fan of the "include everything" approach of most distros).

[21:31:37] <solskogen|M> they don't make much sense as a seperate package. but they might do as a split-package.
[22:39:13] <fermino> Thx!
[22:52:33] <fermino> What a mess... AFAIU linux-rpi5 can boot on any pi as long as it's 64bits; it's just they went with the 16k pages as the default, am I correct?
[22:53:52] <fermino> So a linux-rpi4 specifically would not make much sense... I might end up stripping 32bit builds from the alarm pkgbuild and focus on the kernel-install part
[22:54:14] <fermino> (linux-rpi I mean)
[22:57:19] <fermino> And it makes a ton more sense given what the 64bit Raspberry Pi OS supports, guess I didn't think to look, huh
